Therapy for
Anxiety & Depression.
We might experience anxiety from time to time. Often, we worry about what's next - in our school and work lives, and in our relationships with significant others, family, and friends. Sometimes, we feel distressed about an event in the past. Even good and exciting changes also leave us overwhelmed and having a hard time coping. If your feelings have become overwhelming and are interfering with everyday life, therapy can help.
Therapy for OCD.
OCD is not the same as being anal-retentive or particular about certain things. OCD affects people of all ages and can cause serious distress in your daily life if left untreated. Most of us have obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive behaviors at some point in time in our lives, but when these become so extreme that they consume a lot of time, trigger significant anxiety, and get in the way of important activities we value and love, it is helpful to reach out to a physician or therapist with specific training in Anxiety and OCD disorders.
Trauma Therapy.
When a trauma occurs, the memory of the experience gets stuck and locked in the brain, stored in a way that prevents it from being processed. It can continue to be triggered by images, sounds, smells, thoughts, feelings and so on, inviting a lot of negative emotions to come up. It feels like we are re-experiencing that traumatic event all over again, which can be really scary, disorienting, and overwhelming. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly successful treatment for trauma that uses knowledge from neuroscience to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories. This approach activates our own healing mechanism, allowing our brains to process the experience through in a safe setting, and subsequently, integrate the memory in a way that allows us to move forward.
Sport & Performance Psychology.
I really enjoy working with athletes and performing artists on performance-related issues such as performance anxiety, confidence, motivation, and overcoming challenges.
More specifically, I can better help you strengthen your mental skills, better manage feelings related to the pressures of competing/performing, and learn to manage responses to and cope with injuries, rehabilitation, and returning to your sport.
Equine Therapy.
Equine therapy is an experiential therapy that involves interactions between individuals and horses, creating a unique therapeutic relationship that encourages self-reflection and personal growth. Horses are very sensitive to human emotions and can help us learn to recognize, express, and navigate our feelings in healthier ways.
