Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress and a natural response to a perceived threat. Anxiety is a feeling of fear and worry, and a normal part of life. It can even be helpful to us most times, nudging us to care or pay extra attention to something. However, when feelings of anxiety interfere with daily activities (like work, school, relationships), become difficult to manage, last a long time, and are out of proportion to actual danger, it may indicate the presence of an anxiety disorder.

In our work together, I can teach you practical skills to manage worry, shift unhelpful thinking patterns, regulate your nervous system, and respond to anxious feelings with more clarity and discernment. These tools not only reduce anxiety in the moment but also support long-term change by increasing emotional capacity and flexibility.

I have specialized training in evidence-based treatments for anxiety, grounded in research and proven to be effective in reducing symptoms and improving overall well-being. Approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based interventions can help you better understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact to create and maintain anxiety. In addition to these models, I also incorporate somatic tools and body-based approaches to support deeper nervous system regulation. While traditional talk therapies like CBT and ACT focus on thoughts and behaviors, somatic work brings attention to the body’s role in holding and feeling anxiety. Through gentle practices like breathwork, grounding, movement, and body awareness, we can bring calm to the nervous system, restore a sense of safety, and interrupt fight/flight/freeze patterns that keep anxiety stuck. These tools are integrated into our therapy in a trauma-informed way, supporting your ability to be more present and connected — with yourself and with others.

Whether you are experiencing everyday anxiety, are seeking help for a possible or diagnosed anxiety disorder, or fall somewhere in between, I can help you develop effective tools to manage anxiety and cultivate a greater sense of calm and balance in your daily life.
